How to Maintain your Blond Hair

We all love that ‘fresh out of the salon’ feeling, but how do we make it last at home? Follow our tips to help keep your brassiness at bay and your blond locks looking brighter in between salon visits.

Wash your hair less

The more frequently you wash your hair, the quicker your colour fades. We recommend washing your hair no more than 2-3 times a week to help your colour last longer. Avoid daily washing!

Rinse with cold water

If you’re brave enough, go cold! Hot water opens up the hair cuticle whereas cold water keeps it closed. Try to use cold water when washing your hair.

Use a shower filter

A shower filter can improve the overall health of blond hair and preserve colour. It works to remove unwanted water sources such as chlorine and other pollutants that contribute to mineral buildup and colour fade.

Keep hair hydrated

Blond hair can suffer from dryness. Keep your blond hydrated by using the Mr. Smith Masque or Leave In treatment to add a boost of nourishment.

Use a blond shampoo or treatment

Opt for either a shampoo or treatment that’s specifically formulated for your blond hair needs.

If you’re looking for a product that keeps your colour fresh with every wash, we love the Mr. Smith Blond Shampoo. Formulated to fight against unwanted brassiness in bleached and coloured hair, this shampoo will neutralise brassy tones and gently cleanse the hair and scalp.

If you’re looking for a product that offers more intensity, we love the Mr. Smith Blond. Formulated to deliver deep hydration, this treatment acts as a toner by illuminating and intensifying colour — whilst removing warm tones. Providing a boost of nutrients, we recommend using this treatment once a week.

Use a heat protectant

Try to reduce the use of hot tools to avoid damage and colour fade. If and when you are using hot tools, use a safeguard such as the Mr. Smith Serum.

Style. Substance. Simplicity.
